Yeah, it can be a good movie, i like Elysium and District 9, and i really wanna to see mix of the colonial marines and exoskeletons ;p but i too hope it will be more horror than just shooting aliens.
Neil Blomkamp can be somewhat hit or miss. District 9 is one of he greatest SF movies ever made, in my opinion, and the best of its sub-genre. Elysium, however, had promise but failed in presenting the main premise in a believable way. And I haven't seen Chappie yet, so I can't comment on that. At least we know that he can handle military characters and equipment well, so if the upcoming movie features the Colonial Marines they at least should be well done. For the rest I think it largely depends on wether he is interested in making a good movie that sits in the same 'Verse and answers some questions, or wether he tries to put to much of his own spin on it, like what happened with the abomination of Ridley Scott's Prometheus(the original script was way better, and is worth a read, as is the original script for Alien3).
I agree, but I seem to like Elysium better than most people. I want to see CHAPPiE has well, and I plan on writing a blogpost on the film when I do. I am very excited about Neill being involved with the ALIEN universe, and I think that he has the passion and talent to undo all those decades of damage.
Ok, now let's make a movie!
ReplyDeleteTotally! I need Neill Blomkamp and WETA to get on that shit!
ReplyDeleteHe's making new Alien movie, well... Good idea ;)
ReplyDeleteThis could be amazing film and the film that we fans have been for since 1992
