FWS News Flash: A Great Honor has been given to FWS...

I received an email today from one of the great space travel science website of all time: Atomic Rockets, and they have given one of the greatest honors ever besotted to my little military sci-fi blog. The website's creator Winchell Chung used FWS along with dozens of other resources, to created a new "space-based military" section on Atomic Rockets called "Astromilitary", and mentions FWS and myself several time, and even cites several of the more well viewed blogposts here on FWS. This is truly an honor that I cannot fully express in written language. Even to be mentioned by Atomic Rockets is an honor, after all it is one hell of impressive site and one of the best resources on the internet. Hell, I used it to resource sections of my book Endangered Species, I consult it many times for the various blogposts on FWS, and I will continue to use it for the foreseeable future. I expressed my gratefulness to Mr. Chung, and called my wife. Four years ago, I established FWS with two intentions: to be a resources for military sci-fi creators and to help me get published. I am very proud of the work done on FWS, and grateful that it is being used for the intended purpose. I also want to thank everyone who reads FWS...you made this happen!
Alright...back to work on Special Forces Pt. II!

Congratulations, William!! It has got to be really exciting to not only be mentioned on Atomic Rockets, but listed as a resource. :-) Atomic Rockets is the best site I know of for playing around with paper rocketships...

I hope that Mr. Chung finds time to add a "Respecting Engineering" section alongside "Respecting Science", I suggested this to him once and he agreed it was a good idea. But adding a whole new section is a big research effort, so yeah... it is great to have the new "Astromilitary" section now, though!! Rounds out the Space War sections.

  2. Thanks Mr. Phoenix! I was an honor, and not many people, my wife included understood how big of a deal this was. I was flooded when I got the email, and that FWS can display the Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval logo. I have been truly honored by the news and the kind things Mr. Chung said about FWS. Mr. Chung as a few more sections to add, and I hope one is "respecting engineering as well.
    BTWYou've been away too long.

Yeah, it has been a long time since I was last reading and commenting on FWS- I have lots of things to keep me busy. I try not to let the internet eat up too much time. :) But FWS is always worth a look!

And I know, a lot of people just don't get an interest in science and SF- or that being mentioned by some random site called "Atomic Rockets" is a big deal. Atomic Rockets is thought highly enough by some SF-inclined real rocket engineers including Marc Millis that it is listed on the page "Inspirational Fictional Starships" on the website of the Tau Zero Foundation. There is no other web site like it on the internet, and it definitely encouraged my interest in learning the basics of rocket propulsion.

I'll try to keep up with your posts better in the future...
