FWS News Feed: ENDER'S GAME Videos!

Over the last two weeks, the Summit studio's advertisement and social media campaign has increased the feed for the upcoming military science fiction film ENDER'S GAME, due out November of 2013. This could be in part to a internet boycott movement fueled by the very extreme anti-homosexual views of Orson Scott Card. Two videos have been released featuring Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff. One is the welcome video to Battle School and for the new meat to remember the invasion and the heroism of Mazer Rackham. The invasion footage shows swarms of alien drones or fighters being engaged by Terran fighters in the atmosphere that seem close to the new F-35 JSF. The second video is in-world advert for the citizens of Earth to see if their children as what it takes to be admitted to the International Fleet Battle School and lead Terra's finest in another alien invasion. There are two links embedded into the video, taking you to sites about the signs of another alien invasion and a battle school aptitude test. These videos shows off the amazing set design and costumes of the upcoming film. Criticism has arisen, some citing the deadpan performance of Harrison Ford, and his lack of energy, along with similar to the 1997 Starship Troopers in-film adverts for citizenship. My hope is that this film sparks new followers to MSF and to FWS...

Huh, they've changed it quite a bit, Mazer Rackham is now a fighter pilot who heroically rammed the alien mothership*- which makes the whole movie a sequel to Independence Day, perhaps? :D

It would have been trivially easy for the invaders to win, just leave the big vulnerable queen alien mothership hovering OUTSIDE the atmosphere, where those primitive humans in their air-breathing jet propelled fighter craft cannot reach it!

I hope this film turns out to be entertaining, though. In adapting Ender's Game to film, they seem to have changed the story and background quite a bit, perhaps enough to avoid some of the book's flaws. Who knows, maybe the movie will be pretty good!

*Must. Resist. Urge. To make the "When they abducted him and took him up on their spaceship they abused him. Sexually." joke. Wait, abduction, anal probing, buggers, it is all falling into place now~ XD

  2. Yeah...they really have altered some of the key historical events in the ENDER'S GAME universe. Kind of a shame, and I thought of ID4 as well when I noticed the similarities.
This could be one of those cases, where the movie is better than the book...like BLADE RUNNER and MAJORITY REPORT. Here is hoping. The SFX and set design are amazing, and really capture the original text
Never resist the sexually abuse by alien jokes! Resistance is Futile!

Clearly we now have to Ender's Game 'verse, the book and the movie adaption. I suspect humans don't even have spaceships until AFTER the alien attack, probably aided by reverse-engineering alien ships. Changes the background history a lot, but may be more realistic given the current state of the human space programs.

By the way, I just recently saw Tom Cruise's OBLIVION, I rather enjoyed it. They had great art design and SFX, and I didn't see the big plot twist coming too easily. And I love Tom Cruise's bubble-ship, it is like a cross between one of those observation planes and a space fighter, ha ha. Did you ever find the diagram of the blaster rifle from OBLIVION? Turns out it was a dressed up Bushmaster ACR, I thought it looked familiar when watching the film...
